I don’t have a car in Clemson. How do I use the campus and city bus systems?

Having a hard time getting from your Clemson off-campus housing to campus or around the town? While parking can be a hassle on campus, the city of Clemson, SC and the University have great transportation resources for students to utilize. Understanding the bus system and resources for students allows you to better choose your Clemson apartment for the future.

The CATbus and Tiger Transit

This bus can take you anywhere from the Pier housing complex, to the CU nursing facilities, and to the Walmart neighborhood. Only specific housing communities in Clemson are along the route of the CATbus, so make sure to check the routes on the free TransLoc' app. Additionally, a bus service called Tiger Transit is a bus system for students to get around campus, travel from nearby parking lots, or grab a late-night shuttle. You can personally call ‘Tiger Transit' to pick you up from these locations through the ‘Clemson Nightline' app. Both resources make it easy for Clemson students to travel from their houses or apartments around the Clemson area.

Walking and Biking in Clemson, SC

While Tiger Transit and the CATbus are excellent, being within walking distance from campus is always a bonus. If you do not have a car, Clemson downtown housing is by far the best option. Being within walking distance of campus allows you to have more freedom to go to campus for class, events, and explore the downtown area. Biking and scooters are also popular options around campus, especially when it is nice out. Be careful, though, because the August heat can seriously take a toll! Also, if you do not have a bike, there is a bike system called Clemson Bike Share with stations around campus for convenient use. Starting your morning with a walk to class is a great way to wake your mind and body!

Airport Shuttles

Getting to the airport can be a hassle from the Clemson area. The university also offers shuttles to nearby airports during holiday seasons and high traffic times when out-of-state students venture home These airports include Greenville, SC, Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC. This is very convenient and helpful, as it saves students from having to pay for parking at the airport or worry about not having access to a vehicle. Whether you are in on-campus or off-campus housing at Clemson, this is a resource for all students to utilize. Additionally, all of these services are proficient at updating any disruptions or changes in transportation services online or on their respective mobile apps. 

Although Clemson is a small college town, it offers an excellent bus, biking, and transit system that connects both campus and off-campus apartments. Whether you're using bikes or the community bus, getting to your Clemson housing has never been more convenient. With various Transit options available, Clemson University ensures that students' transportation needs are easily met.
