What are the best apps for a Clemson student to have?

Navigating a new place can be challenging to manage, especially in a people-filled place that feels as big as Clemson University. To help you out, here are some essential apps that will make your everyday life so much easier as a student and as a CU off-campus housing resident.

Clemson Tigers App

The Clemson Tigers app is super helpful if you want to watch different sporting events. This app provides the season schedule, rosters, team stats, and any news regarding the specific team. If you cannot go to the game, you can also get live updates.

Clemson Navigate

Navigate can be downloaded as an app or viewed on your web browser. This is where you will go to schedule appointments with advisors, info sessions, etc. Any documents or notes taken during your appointment are attached through My Docs and Appointment Summaries. It is also where you can find your class schedule for the semester. It includes your professors, the building, the classroom and the meeting days/time.

TransLoc

If you are living in an off-campus apartment that does not provide a private shuttle service or trying to get somewhere on campus, you will need to know how to use the buses. TransLoc will show you different routes with times and stops that the buses will make throughout the day. You can track the bus to see where and how far away from your stop to ensure you make it on time. If you are unsure if there is a bus stop near your apartment, check in with your front desk staff; they should be able to direct you.

Duo Mobile

To verify that you are a CU student, websites and apps affiliated with Clemson will ask for dual authentication using the DUO Mobile app. Every time you log onto a website, you will receive an authentication notification sent to your phone that will allow you to proceed.

Canvas

Another important app to download would be the Canvas app. This is the website that Clemson uses for your class assignments and announcements. Professors may send emails through Canvas, so you will get notifications on your phone once enabled. It can be helpful to see the reminders it may send for upcoming assignments or check your grades if you don't have your computer with you.

GroupMe

GroupMe is used for communication purposes for classes, clubs, Greek Life, etc. Many courses will create a class GroupMe for questions about assignments or group projects. This app allows you to communicate with large groups of people all at once, which can be helpful for larger clubs.

Other than these apps, there is SpeedQueen (shows you when washers/dryers are available on campus), my.Clemson, CU Events, Clemson Campus Recreation, etc. Clemson's website also lists apps they think are helpful, which can be found here.
