Making Friends & Getting Involved at Clemson
Starting college can feel overwhelming, especially when it comes to making new friends. It's totally normal to feel some pressure to "find your people," but you're not alone. Many students feel the same way, and Clemson has countless opportunities to meet new people and get involved.
Make Friends Through Your Classes

Classes are an easy place to start meeting people. Everyone's in the same boat, especially during the first few weeks, so don’t hesitate to introduce yourself to classmates nearby. This can lead to helpful connections for studying, group projects, or even having someone to walk to class with. Many classes also have GroupMe chats where students stay connected.
Get Involved on Campus
Clemson has over 550 clubs and organizations, offering something for everyone. Whether you're interested in fitness, creative arts, culture, academics, or exploring new hobbies, there's likely a group for you. For instance, Clemson even has a Chick-fil-A Club, proving there's a community for just about every interest!
To explore clubs, attend Tiger Prowl, Clemson’s involvement fair held each semester. It’s an excellent chance to meet club members and sign up for groups that interest you.
Try Out For Club Sports
If you're looking to stay active or continue playing a sport you love, club sports are a fantastic option. These teams are competitive but less intense than varsity sports, making them a great way to meet people who share your interests. Teams typically hold tryouts, regular practices, and compete against other schools.
Explore Greek Life
Greek life offers another avenue for involvement and building community. Clemson hosts various sororities and fraternities, including professional and major-specific organizations in fields like business and law. Greek groups often organize social events, service projects, and networking functions, providing ample opportunities to meet people and engage with campus life.
The most important thing to remember is that everyone is finding their way, just like you. It may take a bit of time, but by staying open to new experiences and people, you'll find your community at Clemson.
